Atlas Mountains – 2 Days Hike in Atlas Mountains Morocco

Your trek begins with a scenic 90-minute drive from Marrakech into the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Arriving at Aguersioual (1,600m), you meet your licensed mountain guide, local cook, and muleteer crew.

From the trailhead, you begin a steady ascent along winding trails shaded by walnut and juniper trees, climbing toward the Tizi Oudite Pass (2,219m). Reaching the saddle reveals sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding clay villages and terraced mountain slopes. After a freshly prepared trailside picnic lunch, you descend into the striking, red-soiled Azzaden Valley.

By late afternoon, you arrive at the remote mountain village of Tizi Oussem (1,850m). Here, you settle into a family-run Berber gîte (traditional lodge) to share mint tea, watch the evening light settle over the valley, and enjoy a warm, home-cooked tagine dinner.

Wake up to a traditional mountain breakfast served on the terrace with views over the valley's stone houses and barley fields. You begin the morning with an optional side hike toward the cascading Ighouliden Waterfalls, the highest cascades in the Toubkal region.

Next, the trail leads upward through alpine juniper forests to Tizi Mzik Pass (2,485m). From this high elevation viewpoint, you are rewarded with wide vistas across the Imlil Valley and the towering summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m) in the distance.A gradual descent through pine woods brings you down to the trekking village of Imlil (1,740m) for a final outdoor lunch under the trees. In the late afternoon, you reconnect with your driver for the smooth 1.5-hour transfer back to Marrakech.
